ECO2H2O Ltd (www.eco2h2o.com) is a UK-based eco-housing
company that provides a one-stop shop for homes meeting passive house energy standards. The company commissioned The Business Plan Team (TBPT) to develop a business plan for new £50m factory at a time of fast growth for the business. The factory will manufacture high specification timber-framed eco-houses. The brief was to develop a full business plan with a 5 year financial forecast.
A business planning consultant was allocated as the single point of contact for the development of the business plan and a researcher and accountant was allocated to the project. Detailed product research was provided to TBPT that covered the innovative and ground-breaking eco-house design that will be the cornerstone of a new Eco-town development and TBPT developed this further by sourcing additional market data and reviewing industry publications. TBPT then created a Research Report that looked in depth at key elements of the business proposition which provided the basis for both the financial assumptions and the written plan.
The assumptions for the cost base of the factory development and its manufacturing facility were agreed with the Directors and a financial forecast was created taking into account the specific sourcing of materials from within the European Union and the new production process. Two members of TBPT worked on the development of the financials in conjunction with feedback provided by both the managing director and the broader management team.
With the financial model largely complete TBPT started to develop the business plan commentary and investment proposition. This involved drawing on the research completed by TBPT as well as sourcing additional data and information together from the different members of the management team. The cyclical process of drafting and client feedback took one month before the plan was ready for presentation to potential sources of finance.
